CEN/TC 350 plenary meeting took place the 10th November 2016 in Berlin. The main topic discussed during the event was the amendment to mandate M/350 by the EC and the response to this document. The last draft of the text was presented together with the inputs and comments received by the mirror committees. The official document was discussed during the last meeting of the Committee on Standards on 08 November but it was not approved yet. Now a short period was granted to collect comments from Member States and after considering them, the document should be officially approved.

CEN/TC 350 experts and in particular WG3 are already working to draft the amendment of EN 15804 as the first step in the process. End of life and benchmarking were identified as the most difficult topics to be addressed but others were also important and will require the involvement of the industry. The challenging deadlines of the European Commission to have a published document was also a topic discussed during the meeting.

The work developed by other groups was presented:

  • CEN/TR 17005 Additional environmental impact categories and indicators - Background information and possibilities - Evaluation of the possibility of adding environmental impact categories and related indicators and calculation methods was published.
  • CEN/TR 16970 Guidance for the implementation of EN 15804 was published.
  • EN 15643-5 Framework on specific principles and requirements for civil engineering works is ready for formal vote.
  • WG6 is working on the methodology for the assessment of sustainability of civil engineering works covering environmental, economic and social performance.

Norway presented a proposal to create a new working group to develop a new standard or report to assess refurbishment of existing buildings.

Liaison experts reported the developments of other groups related to the activity of CEN/TC 350, in particular:

  • Integration of EPD information in BIM.
  • Standards under development in ISO for EPD and assessment of buildings.
  • CEN/TC 351 initiatives.
