In addition to the usual tasks reported below, Committee 351 is organising a workshop from 3 to 7 of June 2019 on dangerous substances from construction products. Venue, agenda and registration will be available soon.

WG 1 Release into soil and water

- Final transfer of the three parts of CEN/TS 16637 into standards after the round robin validation.

- Drafting a Technical Specification on ecotoxicity of construction products.

The group discussed the possibility to develop a document on product behaviour during the life cycle and future life cycles but the task was postponed. A similar decision was taken for the development of a background document addressing declaration values or classes for leaching.

WG 2 Emission to indoor air

- Revision of EN 16516 "Construction products: Assessment of release of dangerous substances - Determination of emissions into indoor air” published recently.

The task to develop a document on potential broader application of the model room is, for the moment, postponed.

WG 3 Radiation

- CEN/TS 17216 "Construction products - Assessment of release of dangerous substances - Determination of the activity concentrations of 226Ra, 232Th and 40K using gamma-ray spectrometry” is published and will be tranfered into standard after the ongoing validation campaign.

- CEN/TR 17113 "Construction products - Assessment of release of dangerous substances - Radiation from construction products - Dose assessment of emitted gamma radiation” will also be tranfered into standard.

The potential development of a TS for radon exhalation is postponed

WG 5 Content and eluate analysis

- CEN/TS 17195 "Construction products: Assessment of release of dangerous substances - Analysis of inorganic substances in eluates" was published and will be transfered inot standard taking into account the results of the validation process.

- CEN/TS 17196 "Construction products: Assessment of release of dangerous substances - Digestion by aqua regia for subsequent analysis of inorganic substances" was published and will be transfered inot standard taking into account the results of the validation process.

- CEN/TS 17197 "Construction products: Assessment of release of dangerous substances - Analysis of inorganic substances in digests and eluates - Analysis by Inductively Coupled Plasma - Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES)" was published and will be transfered inot standard taking into account the results of the validation process.

- CEN/TS 17201 "Construction products: Assessment of release of dangerous substances - Content of inorganic substances - Methods for analysis of aqua regia digests" was published and will be transfered inot standard taking into account the results of the validation process.

- CEN/TS 17200 "Construction products: Assessment of release of dangerous substances - Analysis of inorganic substances in digests and eluates - Analysis by Inductively Coupled Plasma - Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS)" was published and will be transfered inot standard taking into account the results of the validation process.

The group will start a new work on bituminous materials and asbestos (including similar fibers as classified according to CLP).
